Black Frost Distilling is a new, northern terroir focused craft distillery located in the heart of southern Minnesota poised to create category defining bourbon, rye and American single malt whiskies, and rums. Founded by a sixth generation brewmaster and fifth generation farmer and CEO, our aim is to produce innovative spirits with a distinct sense of place. Black Frost spirits are created from estate grown and locally sourced grains combined with innovative fermentation, distilling, barrel aging and blending techniques. Black Frost Distillery features uniquely sized open top wooden fermenters, a 14” copper Vendome continuous column still, a fully outfitted lab, a traditional rick house, and a fully outfitted cocktail room all housed in a turn of the century brick building.

Summary

Black Frost Distilling is seeking a passionate individual for the unique opportunity to join our distilling team at the ground floor as we prepare to launch our distillery this summer. As a start up distillery, you will perform multiple tasks within the production facility, all requiring great attention to detail. Duties included in daily distillery operation include grain handling, milling, mashing, yeast pitching, fermentation, transfers, distillation, proofing, barreling, blending, bottling, sanitation, and all other aspects involved in the creation of whiskies and rum.

You will report to our Head Distiller, and will participate in related administrative activities such as daily record keeping, quality control, sample collection, inventory, and occasionally customer-facing activities, such as leading tours, tastings, and supporting off-site events.

Desired Qualifications & Physical Requirements:

·      High School Diploma or college degree preferred

·      Professional experience in craft distilling, craft brewing or other related production field.

·      Prefer knowledge of brewing process, particularly in mashing and fermentation

·      Ability to follow directions, work independently as well as with a team, complete assigned tasks, and have problem solving/trouble shooting skills

·      Self-motivated, self-confident, great at time management, posses the ability to multitask

·      Ability to lift 55lbs., must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position and can lead with positive and respectful, professional manner.

Summary

We are looking for a professional, high-energy bartender with excellent communication skills to serve classical cocktails and exciting new beverages to our customers. The bartender will greet customers, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages. You will also upsell items, utilize proper equipment and ingredients, and handle basic cleaning duties.

To succeed as a bartender, you should have a neat appearance and an engaging, friendly personality. You should be efficient, observant, knowledgeable, and personable.

Bartender Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.

  • Planning drink menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials.

  • Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers.

  • Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.

  • Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked.

  • Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.

  • Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.

  • Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.

Bartender Requirements:

  • Meets state minimum age to serve alcohol.

  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Positive, engaging personality, and professional appearance.

  • Basic math and computer skills.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong task and time management abilities.

  • Eye for detail and understanding of drink mixing tools and techniques.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, etc for extended periods, and lift up to 25 lbs.

Summary

We are looking for a server who will be responsible for taking orders from and serving beverages to customers. Duties will mostly include taking drink orders and writing them down on order slips, and ensuring that tables are served properly and that all payments are collected.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a positive attitude and the ability to work well under pressure with other staff. Previous work experience involving customer service in a fast-paced environment is greatly desired.

Server Responsibilities:

  • Take drink orders from customers accurately and with a positive attitude.

  • Learn to use our ordering system.

  • Engage with customers in a friendly manner.

  • Knowledge of the menu, with the ability to make suggestions.

  • Ensure tables are enjoying their beverages and take action to correct any problems.

  • Collect payments from tables.

  • Prepare checks that itemize and total costs and sales taxes.

  • Help bar prep when necessary.

Server Requirements:

  • Experience providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

  • A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with other staff.

  • Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised.

  • Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and deliver orders in a timely manner.

Summary

The primary function of this position is to promote the sales of Black Frost Distilling products. Create, build, and maintain relationships with key retailers and distributors. Black Frost Distilling is looking for a sales representative to help increase our market presence and promote our products directly to on and off-premise accounts across Minnesota and other markets. The ideal candidate needs to be a self-starter with strong communication skills. Be passionate about the distilling industry and strive to create sales growth and increase brand presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, build, and maintain relationships with key retailers and distributors

  • Spend time in the trade territory visiting and supporting accounts, reaching targeted goals of account visits set by the distillery manager

  • Work closely with distributor partners

  • Increase points of distribution

  • Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts

  • Grow in your knowledge of Black Frost Distilling and its products

  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours (nights/weekends)

Basic Requirements:

  • Passionate about the distilling industry, spirts sale experience preferred

  • Availability to work extended hours

  • Self-starter demonstrating strong communication, persuasive, and business skills

  • Previous sales experience (2 years minimum)

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Must possess strong analytical and decision-making abilities, and have exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

Physical Requirements:

  • Often required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position
